Description of the workshop:

The study of concepts of rhythm course is designed to help all music students (drummers, vocalists, and instrumentalists) to develop their understanding of and their facility with rhythm and the time factor in music. Students of this course need not bring their instruments, nor must they have a previous acquaintance with complex rhythmic structures. They will become familiar with meters of four, five, and seven, learn how to adjust basic patterns to suit various meters, and increase their ability to know where they are at any instant in a rhythmic cycle. Private tabla lesson:

Aloke will give private tabla lessons lasting for one hour a session on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 10 AM to 5 PM and on Thursday, August 26 from 10 AM to 12 PM.

Cost: $80 per one hour session. It will help if you have his book, “Tabla: Lessons and Practice”. You may purchase this book from his website, www.alokedutta.com for $35 plus shipping, or download for only $19.
