Art becomes real when it flows naturally from the artist. Aloke realized this eternal truth from the music of his father, Anadinath Dutta. There was no script that could be used to follow his music. The music he played was engraved in his heart. He never intended to impress his audience; rather, he offered his music to god. God does not need a script. Anadinath remains the biggest influence on and inspiration for Aloke. Scriptless Verse is a tribute to Aloke's father. Sadly, Anadinath passed away exactly 24 hours before the CD was released on November 25, 2002. He never heard Scriptless Verse. This 71 minute-CD consists of seven tracks. The first two tracks are by Anadinath. He played the sacred drum, khol, and classical pakhawaj. The remaining five tracks are by Aloke, expressing different moods on tabla.
